Veterinarian

Dr. Graham Balson

Graham grew up in a large family in Northern Ontario and always knew that helping animals was his calling. He followed a long family tradition, and attended the University of Guelph, playing on the Griffons football team. Following his undergraduate training, he graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1989.

Graham has a wide variety of experiences in the veterinary field. He began practicing at a mixed animal clinic in the Grey-Bruce region of Ontario, where he had many adventures. He then returned to the Ontario Veterinary College and obtained additional training in pathology before focusing more on small animal medicine. For many years, Graham practiced emergency medicine, saving the lives of pets who required urgent care.

Graham now enjoys small animal practice and the benefits of developing relationships with the families of his patients. He believes in a client focused approach to patient care, making the owner a part of the process when it comes to deciding on health care for pets. Graham’s special interests include surgery and internal medicine. He loves playing medical ‘detective’, trying to figure out what is wrong with a patient when they can’t tell him how they feel.

Graham and his wife Michelle share their home with three busy children and a myriad of pets. They love their 5 cats, including one very challenging diabetic named Jackson. They have a silly labradoodle named Marshall as well as several chickens which keep him busy! Graham enjoys skiing, hockey, golf and spends time coaching hockey and gardening in his spare time.
